What is home to you? Do you know what it takes to build a home in a place that is not yours? What can we do to empower each other to spread our wings in the place we all want to call home?
The Soulfuls believe that when a woman feels home and welcomed, she will grow brave, spread her wings and add value wherever she goes. What makes all the difference is our openness to the unknown; being kind and welcoming, while showing interest in one another. So that in the end we no longer feel we are on our own journey home, but that we are home, feeling safer and better connected.
Our mission is to encourage women to believe in themselves and to go for it, to work towards building their dreams, and to aspire to be whatever they want in life, no matter how big those goals may seem. If we never try we never know what is possible.
On Oct 6th we have invited three inspiringly fearless women to share their life stories and experiences. Once refugee girls in Denmark, now having become successful, influential women in society, empowering and giving voice to those who would otherwise remain invisible. We are honoured to introduce these inspiring women:
Sahar is a young award-winning FAP Runner up British/Iranian presenter and journalist who specialises in showing what the world looks and sounds like, bringing to surface untold unique stories. She has investigated some of the worlds most hostile environments in countries like Afghanistan, Nepal, Indonesia and Syria. Her work has been viewed millions of times online. Besides this her own childhood story is being made into a documentary film for BBC’s Storyville.
Mozhdeh is a Child psychologist. She has worked in Denmark, UK and the US to improve the treatment of refugees, especially children, her TED Talk is defiantly worth watching. Her work has been both on the political level aiming at educating the media and population at large, and on the human level alleviating the suffering of refugees. She has written the Red Cross’ handbook, and also managed a project for the NGO Freedom from Torture in London, where she developed best-practices for work with unaccompanied minors who had survived torture.
Mina is the founder of Women Refugee Route, an NGO working to change the system of decision-making in migration policy by including refugee women in the process. She has been named as one of the most influential people under 30 by Forbes in the category “Europe’s 30 under 30 – Law & Policy” #ForbesU30Europe. Mina is identified as a feminist and has dedicated herself to work on refugee and on women’s rights issues.
So we dare you, wherever you are on your journey, just go for it.
